Ministers and Gaols.

[By Tolegraph—Pres3’Association]. Wellington, last night. A deputation from the Wellington Ministers’ Association, representing all sections excepting the Anglican and Roman Catholic Churches, waited on the Minister of Justice to-day to ask that the position of elergyinon other than those of the two bodies mentioned, might be defined in so far as visits to gaols were concerned ; also that they might have permission to hold monthly services at tho Terrace prison. It was pointed out that prisoners were grouped under three heads —Protestants, Catholics, and Jews, and while a minister of any of tiicse three divisions might see a prisoner privately, should a Wesleyan, Congrcgationnlist, or Presbyterian minister desire to do so ho had to converse in tho presence of a warder. It was submitted to tho Minister that this was not quite proper or fair. The Minister, in reply, promised to have enquiries made, as Government was only anxious that prisoners should be ministered to by ministers bolohging to their own churches.
