Sir Clement Markham, President of the Royal Geographical Society, has announced that a Follow of the Society has given live thousand pounds towards the equipment of a second vessel.

Signor Bernacehi, who accompanied Herr Borchgrevinck’s expedition as astronomer, has been awarded the Cuthbert Leek grant for his observations in Victoria Land.
