ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

Dunedin, last night. Peter Derro, a casual laborer employed by the Union Company, was killed this morning on the Waikare (?) while assisting to unload grain. Deceased was looking after the hatch, and it is presumed a sling of grain struck him, knocking him down the hold. Deceased was a Frenchman, married, without a family, about 60 years age, and had been about 25 years in Dunedin.

At the inquest on James Stewart, a verdict of accidentally drowned was returned. Afcithe inquest on Peter Derro the verdict was accidental death, no blame being attachable to anyone.
