National Council of Women.
(Py Telegraph—Press Association.) Wanganui, last night. At the morning sitting of the National Council of Women the following resolutions were passed : —(1) That this Council urges the Premier to introduce a Bill raising the ago of protection of young girls to twenty-one years : (2) that tho Council feels that it is urgently' necessary' that the Public Health and Hospital and Charitable Aid Acts be amended so as to make provision for the establishment of special wards for the admission of patients suffering from venereal diseases and voluntarily presenting themselves for treatment : (3) that the Council gratefully recognises the steps Government have already’ taken as to the establishment of wards for the temporary accommodation of patients suffering from delirium tremens, and urges that similar provision be made- for cases of' lunacy; (4) that the Council requests the Premier again to introduce the Bill for the' repeal of the C.D. Acts, and urges upon him not to allow the present session to expire without removing them from the Statute Book.
At the afternoon .sitting Mrs Williamson gave'an able address’ on .“The Broadening of Women’s Outlook,” and Mrs 8. N. Beecher (Christchurch) read a paper on “ Food Reforms,” written by Miss Tj- M. Smith (Christchurch). The evening session was devoted to the subject, “ Revenue v. Liquor Traffic,” introduced by Mrs Atkinson (Wellington). ~
