The reception at Government llousc yesterday was one of the largest ever held there, it was a brave scene, brilliant with the gorgeous uniforms of the Loyal entourage. The Duke was attired in an Admiral’s uniform, and the Duchess in a superb black dross, with diamonds, and a diamond coronet. Attended hv their equerries, Viscount Crichton and Duke ltoxburg, they were present in the ballroom the greater part of the evening. A number of citizens were presented to the Duke and Duchess. The lion. Mr Ward, Kir .Maurice O’Korke, the Hon. Mr Walker, .Mr Umimi, M.1f.1i., and a number of other New Zealanders were present. There were two thousand live iiumlrcd guests. The New Zealand Naval Contingent participated witli the other ruival brigades in forming a guard of honor during the Duke's recent visit to the warships.
