The Times states that Colonel Piumer marched from Pretoria and held the drifts of Oliphant’s river for ten days, imprisoning many Boers in a densely-wooded waterless circle, driving them into the hands of General Kitchener and the columns from Middleburg. Mr Bennettt Burleigh says that the Boers hid in the bush with their stock, and Hod before Colonel Piumer, leaving ,‘l5O of their wives and children, who are in a lower, direr state than the Kaffirs.. The Boers are astounded and disheartened at their fastnesses being invaded, 1-1 B being captured, besides 50 who , surrendered.

Captain Walls, of the Westralian Bushmen, with 200 picked men and horses, pursued Commandant Matthew Prctorius and ISOO men in the direction of Waterburg. They captured thirty waggons, a thousand cattle, and twenty-seven Boers.
