The matter has been long in dispute, "the men claiming 4s 6d over and above the Imperial pay.
The census shows the mitles increased 102,645 and the females 127,453-. The population of the State represents 4-45 persons per square mile, compared with 3 - 65 at last census.
Phillippiue files state that the plague exists at Manilla, the first case being iu the middle of March. Since then there have been nine cases, all of them fatal.
