MORERE SCHOOL.

Mr H. Hill, Inspector of Schools for the Hawke’s Bay district, has furnished the following report on the Morere school: — The school was examined on March 30th ; mistress, Miss Siddells; pupils on roll, 28. Standard V., presented 1, present 1, passed 1; Standard IV., presented 4, present 4, passed 4 ; Standard 111., presented 2, present 2, passed 2 ; Standard 11., presented 4, present 4, passed 3 ; Standard 1., presented 2, present 2, passed 2 ; preparatory, 15. Good pupils in Standards I. to V.; under careful instruction ; progress throughout satisfactory; arithmetic and reading strong. Class subjects: Geography, fairly good ; drawing, good ; grammar, fair; history, fairly good ; elementary scienco and object lessons, good ; recitation, good; handwork, not taken. Additional subjects: Singing, very fair, sweet voices; needlework, very fair, care should be given to requirements and style of finish ; drill and exercises, good. The preparatory pupils aro doing very well; their progress is satisfactory, and they will make a good strong Standard I. next year. Remarks : This school is in good hands ; the results throughout show that both the previous and present mistress have done faithful and good preparation. The pass work generally is" well prepared, reading and arithmetic being.' particularly strong. In the class subjects satisfactory marks were obtained, and) altogether the school has passed a credUkble examination. I was pleased with the good behavior of the I children, and the' preparatory classes are promising unusually well.
