CENSUS RETURNS.
SUBSTANTIAL INCREASE,
[By Telegraph—Press Association.] Wellington, last night. _ The population of Auckland city is 84,198, as compared with 81,424 in 1596. The population of Kawliia ‘ s 1117. a.lnww‘ -what it was in the previous census. The borough of Invercargill population of 6218 as compared with 5602 when the previous census returns, were taken. , Nelson, last night.
The census returns for Waimea County, including the Boroughs of Richmoud and Motucka, show a total population of 9267, an increase of 665.
