WOOLLEN MILLS DESTROYED. DAMAGE ,£27,000. [By Telegraph—Press Association.] v Dunedin, last night. The fire which destroyed the Bruce Woollen Mills at Milton originated either in the engine room or stoke house. Hud there been a tire.brigade and sufficient supply of water the flames could easily have' been confined to the engine and boiler house, and the destruction of the main building and machinery, which was considered by experts equal to any in the colony averted. When the _ engineer visited the mill about five o'clock on Saturday afternoon everything was all right. , When the fire was discovered early yesterday morning a telephone message was sent' to the Dunedin Fire Brigade, who would have proceeded to Milton with some of the brigade’s appliances had any of the railway engines had steam up.
