I MOTU SECTIONS. E The Motu settlors wrote asking the Board to throw open sections 4 and G, J, Alotu Survey District, which was suitable for cutting up, owing to its central position, . and would do for close settlement on that , ‘ account. A good deal of employment could be had about the sections mentioned, as most of the adjoining settlers required extra help at certain seasons of the year.—The Ranger stated he did not think the land would be at idl suitable for close settlement, on account of its poorness, aval ho wished to draw the Board's attention to the fact that the Department would require a timber supply in future for bridging purposes, in which ease tho J' sections in question would come in handy n for that purpose. Were (he land turned A. into dairy farms, the settlers might be E able get a living out of 200 acres, but to h run sheep on it nothing less than 400 p acres of laud would be of any good.—Mr £ Groome thought that, as the timber would \v bo likely to bo required within the next ji two veiirs for the use of tho Department, a he moved that tho petioners bo informed b that the Board would not deal with the tl blocks on that account at present. —The u motion was agreed to. j 1 THE WILLOWS ESTATE. “ The Willows Estate settlers wrote complaining of the state of the road through the block, which had been unformed, and in consequence they. were b inconvenienced in getting their milk to ® the factory.—Tlie Commissioner thought the best tiling the Board could do would be Co recommend the Government to ex- 1 pend £2OO iu forming the Awapuni road 1 in the Willows Estate, to enable the 1 f settlers to get their milk to the factory. —Agreed to. s MtSI'ELLANKOI'S. ] E. llewetson wrote applying for the ] Ivangiholuia Crown award block of land, \ consisting-of 1500 acres, and would like it j to be thrown open for selection as soon ] as possible. Air Hutchinson ex- ; plained there were about 7000 acres < cleared, and the leases had about ten j veavs to run. —It was decided to hold o\cr the matter until the Banger had reported , on the value of the improvements, which , would not bo paid over until the land had Air E. Kcnwav asked to be allowed to dispose of half-grazing run No. 59 to Air DeLisle.—The Commissioner stated that all the Board could do would be to get a report from the Crown Lands Ranger. Tho Commissioner pointed out to Air Kcnwav the difficulty in the partition would be that Air DeLisle would be holding two runs, which was contrary to the Land Act,—Mr Kenway was informed that the transfer could not be granted, as Air DeLisle held another run. Air G. E. Powell wrote forwarding an application for opening land at Paracro, Ilikurangi district.—The Board decided to urc-c on the Department the advisability 0 cf throwing open this land for selection.
