MURDER OF MISSIONARIES.
IN NEW GUINEA. DISREGARD WARNINGS, AND PAY PENALTY WITH LIVES. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Received April 22,12.55 a.m. Thursday Island, April 21. The Government Resident lias. received a letter from New Guninoa, stating that the crew of the schooner Dado report the murder by New Guinea natives of the well-known missionary, Rev. Jas. Chalmers, and also the Rev. O. F. Tomkin, another missionary recently arrived from England. The murders occurred at Deb, at the mouth of the Fly River. The missionaries went ashore after being warned that a native fight was progressing. The natives killed the Revs. Chalmers and Tomkins, and then all the boys belonging to their mission school. Bob, the captain of the mission schooner Niue, from the vessel saw the bodies lying on the bcaeh, with the heads cut off. Ho dared not land, and sailed for Lara Island, from where the news was forwarded.
