A BREAKDOWN. [By Telegraph—Press Association.] Auckland, last night. The San Francisco mail steamer Sonoma arrived from ’Frisco at 5.25 p.m. She left ’Frisco on March 80th. On April Ist the liigh-pressuro piston of the port engine broke, knocking out the head and top of the cylinder. She continued the rest of the trip with one engine, making about fourteen knots on the voyage to Honolulu. The engines were compounded in Honolulu, and averaged 15\ knots until April 12th, when the low pressure piston of the compounded engines cracked* The rest of the voyage was completed with one engine. The time from ’Frisco to Auckland was 17 days, including stoppages.
