THE PREPARATIONS AT ROTORUA.
MR CARROLL ORGANISING,
By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, last night. Tho Hon. J. Carroll has made arrangements at Rotorua for a native camping ground on tho racecourse. The pavilion will be reserved for the Royal party, and seating accommodation provided for a thousand distinguished visitors'. ' A large native meeting was held and the local chiefs welcomed Mr Carroll, who said tho Maoris on this occasion would be in accord in the welcome to tho grandchild of the late Queen, and would give him such an ovation that would never be forgotten. He thought' it would bo well not to have speech-making on the occasion, but an address from the Maoris, agreed upon by the assembled tribes, should be read.
A committee of the Arawa tribe was formed for the purpose of providing buildngs to shelter the visiting tribes, nurnberng between 4000 and 5000.
