"At a conference of representatives of the tailor : ng_ trade-unions of the South Island which has been sitting here since Saturday it was resolved that, as the Government require a large quantity of cloth* ing for the post-office and railway officials and Defence Department, they should be urged to establish a Government tailoring workshop in one of the chief centres of tho colony. '
