UNION v. GISBORNE JUNIORS. The above race~was rowed shortly after 11 o’clock yesterday morning, in the presence of a fair number of spectators. The following wcreßhe'crews : G. Willis, 11.0 (strj Coleboume, 11.3 (st) H. Minett, 10.6 (3) Faram, 10.0 (3) C. Dick, 11.7 (2) G. Buseke, 9.10 (2) T. Fraser, 10.6, bow Hansen, 11.2 )bow) A. Pool (box) M. Doyle (cox) The crews were sent away to a good start, but shortly before reaching Warren’s jetty one of the footboards in the Gisborne boat gave way, and the stroke of the Union crew generously offered to go back and start again. Another good star! was made, but the Gisborne crew were soon half a length ahead, and rowing well maintained this advantage to the footbridge, where the Union crew spurted, and were on level terms when the bathing shed was reached. Rowing on in fine style they gradually forged ahead, and at the gas works were leading by two lengths, and despite the efforts of the Gisborne crew drew still further away, and won by about three lengths. Time, 7.5. The Napier Club are endeavoring to send two of their crews up by Saturday’s 1 boat, and in that case they will row the 1 local crews on Saturday afternoon.
