AUCKLAND SPECIAL.
DISPUTED BOUNDARIES,
(Special to Times.) Auckland, last night. The question of the disputed boundaries between the Kingites and Ngatiamaniapotos will be decided by a poll. SPORTING. A wager of 300 to 100 was accepted on Saturday night about Okoari for the Easter Handicap, and Tho Needle was backed to win £SOO at 100’s to 7. In double betting on the Easter Handicap and Hurdles Handicap, St. Ursula and Cavaliero, Hohoro and Tim, and Okoari and Cannongate were backed for a few hundreds. The quotations arc: —s to 2 Okoari, 5 to 1 Rosella, 7 to 1 Hohoro, 8 to 1 Laotitia, St. Ursula, and Seahorse, from 10 to 30 to 1 the others.
This morning was beautifully fine, and there was a larger number of horses out before breakfast than usual. Wright’s team lead off, Rosella, Bcddington, and Laetitia cantering on the tan, the two former being brushed home along tho straight, after accomplishing two circuits. Seahorse strode along at a solid pace. In the second round of two Cannongatc sprinted over the last three furlongs. Bluejacket put in long work, going at three-quarter pace over the second of two rounds’. Ideal and Mcnura cantered on the plough. They each look very well. THE GISBORNE HORSE. En Ilakkorc, who also put in an appearance, having arrived by the Zcalandia, was worked steadily. Formula, Nonetto, La Gloria, and other members of Macmanemin’s team did serviceable tasks. The Needle and Dayntreo did good threequarter pace work. Boreas moved along over the last half of a circuit on the tan. Amongst others out doing medium pace work were Record Reign, Cavaliero, St. Peter, St. Ursula, Zealous, Ragabrash, Honesty and Winsome. Altogether fifty had worked by seven o’clock. The Defence Department takes ovor tho work of the Rifle Association, to which liberal encouragement will be given.
