A LICENSING CASE.

WAS HE A LODGER ? [By Telegraph—Press Association.] Auckland, last night. A case was heard in the Police Court to-day in which the licensee of the Waverley Hotel was charged with selling liquor to a man named Graham on Sunday, It appeared that Graham had a house in town, but slept on a couch in the hotel on the previous night. Tho Crown Prosecutor argued that being there one night only he ceased to bo a lodger. When he got up on Sunday morning ho should not have got drink after he had paid his bill and signified his intention of leaving. Mr Hutchison, the Magistrate, held that Graham was a lodger within the moaning of the Licensing Act, and dismissed the case.
