Mr C. E. Gooding, of Ngaire, who had the misfortune to Ipse an eye some time ago, was working din the bush when a splinter of steel freitp the wedge he was using entered the sound eye. Gooding was taken to New Plymouth hospital, but to save the sight ipoecame necessary to charter a speeialkurain to convey him to Wellington for treatment. The Hqh. J, G. Ward made a liberal, concession in tho train charges. '
