THE KARAMEA.

The Shaw, Savill and Albion Company’s fine steamer the Karamea (Capt. Burton) arrived in the Bay yesterday morning, this being her first trip -to Gisborne, though tho vessel has previously visited other parts of the colony. A description intended for this issue has been crowded out by telegraphic matter, but it may be said that the vessel is in every respect a worthy representative of the grand fleet for which Messrs Common, Shelton and Co. are the local agents. Splendid accommodation is given for a limited number of passengers, and it may bo stated that a full complement of saloon passengers have already been booked.

The officers of tho Karamea are Commander, Captain Burton; chief officer, Mr Rainey ; second officer, Mr Clough ; third officer, Air Jackson; fourth officer, Mr Boulleid ; chief engineer, Mr Crawford ; second engineer, Air Binnie ; third engineer, Mr AVatson ; fourth engineer, Mr Douglas ; fifth engineer, Air Cable; first refrigerating engineer, Air Cardan ; second, Air Macfarlanc ; chief steward, Air Bland. There is a crew of 76. The vessel has a singlo sorew, and steams at about 10 knots. From the Cape she brought to the colonies 67 invalid soldiers ; there were also 15 saloon passengers and 110 third-class. The Karamea experienced had weather all the way from the Cape to Australia. It is expected that the Karamea will have completed her loading to-night from the Gisborne Freezing AVorks. Then sho proceeds to Auckland, her last port of call, before departing for the Home market-.
