PERSONAL.

Sergeant Siddells is due at Gisborne this evening from the Coast. His Grace Archbishop Redwood passed through Gisborne on Thursday on his wav South.

Mr J. H. Brown has taken over Mr H. H. Smith’s Tapuni estate, Waikaremoana.

Mr W. F. Sinclair, of Tolago Bay, arrived in town yesterday. He returns homo to-day. Captain Winter is likely to go to Wellington when the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall arrive.

Mr Bradley has gone South to act as referee at the New Zealand Polo Association’s tournament. Mr and Mrs Julius Caesar leave for Auckland by the Waikare this morning en route for Rotorua.

Captain Tucker, who headed the poll at the Harbor Board election on Thursday, is mentioned as a probable candidate at the forthcoming borough election. Dr and Mrs Hughes leave for Auckland this morning on a short holiday trip. While Dr Hughes is away his practice will be attended to by Dr Craig. Mr H. Hill, Inspector of Schools, has beon giving a surprise visit to the schools of the district. He leaves for the Coast in a day or two. The Auckland Graphic has a twocolumn report of the wedding of Mr Harold Lysnar. There were nearly 200 wedding gifts. Mr W. A. Barton, S.M., reached Tolago last night on his way to Gisborne. He holds a sitting of the court at Tolago today, when he will hear the charge against the native youth charged -with stealing a pair of pants from Mr Tullouch. Nows was received at Te Awamutu on Monday of the death of Trooper William Yowdejl, who went to South Africa as one of the Second Contingent. He was badly kicked by a horse in Capetown, and it was then stated that ho had been invalided to England, where his parents live. It now appears that when he recovered from the kick he went to the front and not to England. A private letter states that Trooper Yowdell was shot through the breast about two months ago when out scouting. As his next of kin reside in England the news was telegraphed there.
