The tracks wore somewhat heavy for winding-up gallops at Hastings this morning, and the work principally consisted of sprinting. Ia beat Sirius rather easily in a five-furlong gallop. Blackwing, who arrived from Wanganui last night, galloped five furlongs in good stylo. Skobelcl'f and Matcroa wore associated in a fourfurlong sprint, the latter having all the best of it. Battleaxe and Okoari wore restricted to pacing work. Tho Hompic, who reached Hastings last night, put in a good working gallop. Battleaxe, Skobelol'f and Ideal are fancied for the Cup. The weather gives promiso of keeping perfect.

The weather has cleared for the hunt to-morrow, and there is every indication of a good day’s sport. A large number of visitors arc arriving from all parts of tho district, and tho race meeting on Monday promises to bo the most successful gathering yet held by the club. Tho committee have spared no expenso in connection with the meeting, and the course has been much improved during the last few months. The totalisator will be run by Messrs Barry and Hogan, of Gisborne. The following are the acceptances in connection with the meeting :
