PREPARATIONS AT AUCKLAND,
[By Telegraph—Press Association.] Auckland, last night. Extensive preparations are being mado for* the reception of tho Duke of York. In answer to the Mayor, the Premier telegraphed that the Government does not intend to contribute towards the expenses of local bodies further than if medals are issued to school children, to contribute £ for £ to the cost.

All the civilian engineers on the Ophir have been made officers of the Royal Naval Reserve.
The Italian squadron will greet the Duke and Duchess of York on their arrival at Malta.
