BAND CONTEST.
[By Telegraph—Press Association.] Wanganui, last night. The North Island Band contest opened here to-day. In the afternoon the visitors were entertained at a garden party, which was practically spoilt by rain. In the evening the quartette and B flat cornet solo competitions were proceeded with. The former resulted : —Wanganui (123 points) 1, Woodville (105 p'oints) 2, Woodville No. 2 (94 points) 3.
The solo competitions are not yet con eluded.
