At. a meeting of the Gisborne Women’s Political Association on Saturday night, and before proceeding with the formal business of the evening, the President said : “ I am sure you will all wish me to pay some tribute to the memory of our late, much-respected Vice-president, Mrs Sigley. This Association is just six and a-liaif years old, and she, I think, is the first of our number to be removed by death. Mr and Mrs Sigley have from the beginning been the strongest and most loyal supporters of the women’s cause in Gisborne, and when failing health warned Mr Sigley that he must be careful of cold and damp night air, Mrs Sigley still held bravely on, and made it a matter of duty to be present at meetings, which the young and strong wero often too lazy to attend. And now, she is gone, and all we, her friends, are the poorer. 'ln the name of her wisdom and beauty, Of her life full of light, Let us live in our national duty, Let us help on the right.' It but remains for me to propose that our Secretary be requested to forward the following resolution: ‘ That the Gisborne Women’s Political Association begs to convey to Mr Sigley its sincere sympathy ' in the loss he has sustained by the sudden removal of his devoted wife.’ ” Mrs Scott seconded the resolution, which was unanimously agreed to.
