NAPIER NEWS.
A NARROW ESCAPE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Napier, last night. A narrow escape from a serious accident occurred at the Theatre Royal last evening, by which Mr J. Knott, proprietor of the Kinematograph entertainment, was rather severely burnt about the face and hands, through an explosion, caused by some ether used in connection with the exhibition becoming ignited. Mr J. Knott was taken to the hospital, where he was found to be suffering more from the shock than anything else, and he will probably’be'about again on Monday. FIRE BRIGADE TEAMS.
The teams of the Spit and Napier Fire Brigades returned from the Christchurch competition by the express train last evening, and were met at the station by the two bridgades and both local bands. His Worship the Mayor welcomed the firemen back, congratulating the Spit team heartily on the honors gained by them at the competition. A complimentary banquet was tendered to the Spit team last night by their fellow-members pf the Spit Brigade. *"'
