The plague Ims made its appearance 1,01-c. Mr ' Kenworthy, the head of a firm of city grocers, has died. Subsequently it was discovered that a plagued man named Griffiths, employed nt Kenworthy's, had developed suspicious symptoms, and ho was removed to tho liospital, which has been quarantined. Sydney, March G. Considerable delay has been caused to shipping owing to the quarantining and fumigation. The harbor in the vicinity of the quarantine grounds presents an unusual sight through so many big liners being detained. The pilots being aboard is also hampering the service. Capetown, March 5. Four fresh cases of plague have occurred at Capetown, two whites and two Kaffirs.

Auckland, last night.

The Government have declared Sydney, Brisbane, and Capetown infected ports owing to the outbreak- of plague. "Wellington, last night. The Premier states that Capetown and Sydney, have been declared infected ports." All vessels arriving in New Zealand from Capetown are to be examined. The passengers will be carefully examined.

AUSTRALIAN BOATS TO BE QUARANTINED 24 HOURS. [By Telegraph—-Press Association.] Auckland, last night. Hr. Sharman, medical officer for the port of Auckland, has received the following telegram from Dr. ,1. At. Mason, chief health officer of the colony : " Quarantine of 24 hours must be enforced against all vessels arriving from the Cape, Brisbane, or Sydney. Vessels are also to be carefully inspected, especiallv as to the cargo being fumigated. This order is to take effect from to-day. riease inform shipping companies.'
