ARREST OF A WOMAN

Sydney, March 0. Jane Smith, aged 82, understood to he a resident of .Dunedin, was remandod at the Police Court to the Pith, on a chargo of being concerned in causing tiie death or I’. Conway. Meanwhile she appears at the Coroner’s inquest on Friday. A rumor which, however, lacks ollicial confirmation, is that tho analyist found strychnine in Conway's stomach. The woman Smith, who is charged with being concerned in the death of the man Conway, is described as a married woman. The police are in possession of what they consider strong circumstantial evidence. Startling revelations are expected at tho inquest. It is understood that evidence will be submitted at tho inquest bearing upon transactions between Smith and Conway with regard to certain promissory notes, and a bill of sale. The money and valuables in Conway’s possession aboard the Taltmc, and which it is alleged had disappeared, arc stated to amount to between three and four hundred pounds.
