SEVENTH CONTINGENT. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, last night. There are now 334 men and 50 horses of the Seventh Contingent encamped at Newtown Park. OPENING FEDERAL PARLIAMENT. - The Premier is to-day communicating with members of Parliament with a view of obtaining their opinions with regard to the despatch of a contingent to the opening of the Federal Parliament. APPEAL DISCONTINUED. The Manawatu Railway Company has decided to discontinue the appeal proceedings in connection with the claim for damages by William McLeod, an engine driver who was injured through a falling rock in a tunnel, and who was awarded .£750 damages by the jury.
