UNIVERSITY SENATE,

DEGREE EXAMINATIONS IN SMALL CENTRES.

[By Telegraph—Press Association.] Auckland, last night. Speaking on the motion at the University Senate, re holding dogreo examinations in small centres, Dr. McGregor and Prof. Sale strongly urged that as the organisation of the University had been completed by the establishment of a college in Wellington, the system. of granting degrees to unattached students, should be abolished. The opinion of Senate was not tested on this point, but there was distinct feeling that so long as unattached students were recognised, convenient facilities for examination should be granted to them outside the four chief centres.
