ENTHUSIASTIC RECEPTION OF A TROOPER. Per Press Association—Copyright. New Plymouth', last night. An enormous, enthusiastic crowd welcomed Trooper Gill on his return from the Transvaal. He was met by the Mayor and Mr Smith, M.H.R., at the station. The volunteers, of which Gill was a member, were present, also the cadets and the City Band. Trooper Gill is still hi ill-health from enteric fever. He was conducted to a carriage, where he was heartily welcomed by the Mayor. He briefly expressed thanks, and was then taken from the carriage and carried on the shoulders of-two volunteers through tlje town, preceded by the Band, and accompanied by a large crowd.
