THE IMPERIAL TROOPS.
THE INDIAN FORCES TO VISIT GISBORNE.
It has been definitely decided, as we announced yesterday, that the Indian troops are to visit Gisborne. The following telegrams were received yesterday aftornoon by His Worship the Mayor, one message being from the Hon. J. and the other from Captain Winter ; “ Every preparation can be made for the reception of the Indian troops. I may see you, Gisborne, (Saturday).— J. CARROLL.”
“Will require'one’hundred^horses for Indian Contingent. " Advertise, asking settlers to lend for day. Have their own gear—Winter" . - (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Auckland, last night. Large numbers of people. are arriving from the country districts to take part in the reception of the Imperial troops. Tomorrow (Saturday) will be very generally observed as a holiday. If the weafher is fine an enormous crowd of spectators are sure to witness the demonstration. The Hons. McGowan and Duncan are already in town, and the Premier and Mr Ward are expected to-morrow.
