Lawn Tennis.
At tlic meeting of tho Committee of the Gisborno Lawn Tennis Club it was decided to hold a championship tournament on the 21st and 23rd inst. to be open to all residents of the Counties of Cook, Waiapu, and Wairoa who have resided for three months in the district. The events will be confined to ladies and gentlemen's singles, and the prizes will he trophies. The President, Dr Craig, and Vice-Presidents arc interesting themselves in collecting funds for the purpose of purchasing cups to serve as the- trophies to be offered in the two events. The following handicaps have boon declared for the competition for the racquet presented by Dr Craig:—Barlow, owe 40 v. Craig, owe 15 ; Clirisp, owe 415 v. Mann, owe 430 ; Bees, owe 440 v. Gar lick, owe 430 ; A. T. Coleman, scr. v. T. A. Coleman, scr.; Hughes, owes 415 v. Maude, rec. 4-15 ; Hamilton, rec. 415 v. Watson, owe 30; Butler, scr. v. Matthews, scr.; W. L. Coleman, owe 430 v. Heaney, rec. 430. Best of three vantage sets.—First round on or before 16th February; 2nd, 2nd March; 3rd, 14th March; 4th, 23rd March.
