SIXTH CONTINGENT.
THE GISBORNE BOYS,
[GISBOKNE TIMES SPECIAL.] Auckland, last night. A private cablegram received by an cxGisborneite residing in Auckland states that the Gisborne boys of the Sixth Contingent were all well upon the arrival of the Cornwall at Sydney. The Gisborne members complain of the number of articles that have mysteriously disappeared from their kits on board the troopship. This has proved rather a source of annoyance 'to several of the Gisborne members of this Contingent. When in Auckland last week, Troopers Hurrey (2), R. Porter, and Moore, of Gisborne, were minus their leggings, and they stated that they were stolen from them on board of the troopship on its way up from Wellington. One popular Gisborne trooper informed me that he intended purchasing a pot of white paint, and that he and his comrades were going to utilise it to the best advantage.
Received, Feb. 8, at 12.45 a.m. Sydney, Feb. 7.
It transpires that seven members of tho New Zealand Contingent, who missed the Cornwall, reported themselves to the barracks to-day. They remain there pending instructions from the New Zealand Government.
