RAIDERS GET A NASTY SHOCK.
COLONIALS WOUNDED.

London, Fob. 6. A New Zealand Rough-rider, Alex. McPhee, was severely wounded at Cyphorsfontcin on January 28. Tho Boer raiders sent a force to Doom River, to prevent Johann Colcnbrandor, managing director of the ColenbrandcrMatabcleland Development Company, who recently raised a mounted regiment at Buluwayo, with a portion of Bethuno’s Horse, from advancing. Colcnbrandor arrived first,, occupied tho trenches of tho enemy, and inflicted considerable loss on tho latter. The enemy fled, abandoning the township of Vankyhcdor. They also had to abandon a quantity of waggons and loot.
Captain Gordon, of the Queensland Mountcds, received a sovero gunshot wound in the foot in tiro fight at Doom River.
The garrison at Moddcrsfontcin numbered 200 beforo capture. Thoy repelled several attacks. The Boers who comprised the attacking forco numbered ISOO. Tho British casualties wore 30, mostly wounded.
