THE FUNERAL SERVICE,
By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright,
London, Feb. 4.
At the funeral service on Saturday there was, by the King’s wish, a succession of solemn anthems. “ Man that is born of woman ” was sung to Wesley’s music, “Thou Knowest” to Purcell’s setting, “ The Lord’s Prayer ” to Gounod's music, and then an anthem by Tschaikowsky, a sombre Russian air.
A melancholy spirit pervaded the hallelujah memorial service held at Boston on Saturday. It was largely attended. At Havanna Admiral Wood, the Consuls, and many Cubans attended a memorial service.
Services according to the Greek and Armenian rituals were held throughout the East.
Mr Hay, American Secretary of State, and Lord Lansdowne have decided to appoint a new joint Commission to establish a Columbian boundary. There has been an exciting struggle, lasting a week between the bulls and bears in the linseed oil market at Arras, France. The bulls were defeated, losing two million francs.
