IMPORTS AND EXPORTS,

Compared with 1899, the imports show an increase of .£848,000. The value of gold and silver bullion imported decreased by £ 1,384,000, but merchandise increased by .£1.088,000. The imports decreased ;£ 1,145,000. The decrease in wool was ,£1,574.000, wheat .£859,000, sheepskins £184,000, bullion and specie .£239,000. Other goods increased by .£1,240,000, bringing down the net decrease. Brisbane Jan. 24.

The total value of the exports of the colony last year was .£9,092.000, a decrease of nearly two millions compared with the previous voar. The imports amounted to .£7,052,000, an increase of .£400,000 on the preceding year. The exports of sugar fell from .£1,103,000 to .£060,000. The wool exports decreased ,£2,182,000. At the local wool sales held to-day 2836 bales were oll'orcd, but the greater portion was withdrawn. The prices were disappointing. showing a decline of -Id to -;;d on crossbred lleece wool, and jd to Id on pieces. The prices ruling were as follow : Fine crossbred s'ijd to 01- per lb, clean medium do. 5d to sld. coarse do. 4|d to 4•'[(!. leg-stained and inferior do. old to 4d, pieces and bellies 2kl to B|d, locks lid to 2 Id.
