The Grace Harwar.
From Auckland yesterday a telegram was received, statin that on arrival the Hawea had reported passing a full-rigged ship, bound northwards, with her mizzen topmast gone ; this was off Portland Island, at 4.20 p.m. on the Bth inst., while the Hawea was on her way to Gisborne. It is strange that the captain did not think of making this report at Gisborne, instead of waiting until he had seen the-telegrams from Gisborne published in the Auckland papers. The report has served to allay anxiety, for it is probable that the vessel i 3 the Grace Harwar, now 22 days out from Otago Heads, and we hope soon to see her loom up in port. The supposed previous sighting of the vessel was from off Pakarae, but though the reports are conflicting they are not necessarily altogether at variance on the supposition that it is the same vessel. In conversation last night with Captain Martin, of the schooner Waiapu, that gentleman informed a Times representative that his opinion was that the Grace Harwar had been caught off Akaroa by a gale and disabled, and in that case, with the prevailing winds, she "could not have arrived until the latter part of this week. He thinks that the vessel reported from off Pakarae could not have been the Grace Harwar, and if it is her that is now reported he considers that she will be able to work her way into port, though the progress will be slow. There should soon be further information as to the long-expected vessel.
