Lusk and Elliott continued the bowling. With 11 added Duncan was caught by Lusk. Upham and Crombie made a long stand,. the former especially scoring very freely. Crombie maefa two fine square leg hits, one over the ropes for six. The pair put on 90 runs, when Upham was rather foolishly run out. Tha score was 370 for seven wickets.

Wellington’s innings closed for 397 (Duncan 10, Crombie 63, Upham 44, Read O, Wright 1, Hales 6, extras 26). At 2.45 Auckland had lost one wicket fos 51, J. Mills, bowled Tucker, 22, Hay, not out, Auokland responded with 262.
