. The Hawke’s Bay Herald regrets that two or three of the Gisborne cricketers could not be selected to play in the match against Auckland at Napier on Saturday. Our Tolago Bay correspondent writes:— The Natives have held a hui at Hau'iti in order to. raise funds to erect a stone over the grave of their late chief Karaitiana Amaru. It being the end of the shearing season the time was well chosen, and £75 was collected. CROWN LANDS OPEN EOR APPLICATION. NOTICE is hereby given that TWELVE SECTIONS of Rural Landrvand Two Small Grazing Runs,.situated in the Nuhaka North Survey District, will be open for application under the optional systems and the small grazing run system respectively, at this Office and the District Land and Survey Office, Gisborne, on WEDNESDAY, the 30th day of January, 1901. Tho capital values of the rural sections range from los to 20s per acre, and the rentals of the small grazing runs from 2Jd to 3d per acre. In the event of there being two or more applications for any section or run, priority of selection will be decided by ballot, at the Court House, Wairoa, on Monday, the 4th day of February, 1901, at 11 o’clock a.m. Sale plans giving all information will shortly be ready for distribution, and will then be exhibited at the various post offices, etc. Full particulars can be obtained at this office and the District Land and Survey Office, Gisborne.
