CONGRATULATIONS.

GISBOENE’S MOENING DAILY,

Kind. Words from Premier of

Commonwealth.

Tim proprietors of the Gisborne Times have received so many letters of congratulation and kind wishes for the success of Gisborne’s morning journal, that an apology must be offered to those who have not received individual replies ; any remissness in replying will we hope, be excused, for in no ease has it occurred through neglect. We had thought of, publishing most of the letters received, but it would not bo right to do so without first obtaining permission from the writers, which would entail considerable delay. The most interesting letter from a public point of v,iew is that received from the great Frederal champion, the Hon. E. Barton. Writing to the editor from “ Miandetta,” Carabella street, North Sydney, the famous Federal leader states: — Dear Sir, —I learn with interest that it is your intention to issuo a morning daily in. the historic locality which was Captain Cook’s first landing place in New Zealand. Knowing that you hope with me for an early extension >of the limits of the Commonwealth so that New Zealand may be a partner in its greatness, I congratulate you on your resolve, and you havo my best wishes for its success. I am, dear Sir, Yours very truly Edmund Babton.
