SYDNEY’S WEEK-END

ACTION AGAINST BASHERS SYDNEY, May 26. Though the police patrols were strengthened during the week-end, street bashers, using bottles and fists, were more numerous. The police made more than 800 arrests in the city and suburbs. About two-thirds of these were protective arrests of drunken men who were unable to take care of themselves. Other charges included assault, offensive behaviour, stealing, rape, dangerous driving, inflicting bodily harm and breaking and entering.
