STATE MAY BUY LAND (P.A.) PALMERSTON NTH. May 24. -•Large areas of land in New Zealand may be taken over by the States to prevent soil erosion. The steepest and most inaccessible areas may be retired from farming altogether. These possibilities were mentioned by Mr. A. P. Grant, engineer to the Soil Conservation Council, in an address to the annual conference of the New Zealand Catchment Board’s Association, which concluded in Palmerston North today.
