HEAVY LOSS ON TRAMS (P.A.) DUNEDIN, May 24. Commenting on a Wellington message in which the Mayor. Mr W. Appleton had estimated the loss from uncollected tram fares at between £4OO and £SOO a week a Dunedin citizen who is welt informed concerning the position here said that he considered Mr. Appleton's figures were an underestimate. He said that if only one fare per section was missed the accumulated loss m a year would be something like £16.000. These figures were based upon a mileage of 2,000,000.
