OPERATION A SUCCESS

BLUE BABY COMPLAINT N.Z. CHILD IN BALTIMORE (P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, May 26. Advice that a successful operation for a form of cyanosis, more commonly known as blue baby, was performed on five-year-old Marie Stewart, twin daughter of Mrs. R. J. Rose, Palmerston North, and the late Mr. J. G. Stewart, school teacher, who lost his life in the Air Force, has been received by relatives of Mrs. Rose from Baltimore.

The operation was performed by Dr. Blalock, 0.E., of St. John’s Hospital, who perfected the technique, on Wednesday and the girl’s mother reported that Marie was improving wonderfully. To enable the mother and step-father to take Marie to Baltimore £1716 was raised by public appeal.
