GIFT OF CATTLE

FOOD FOR BRITAIN MR. T. A. DUNCAN’S ACTION VALUED AT ABOUT £3500 (P.A.) WELLINGTON, May 23. Two hundred bullocks, representing 800 quarters of prime ox beef, have been given to the people of Britain for food by Mr T. A. Duncan, the wellknown pastoralist of "Otairi.” Hunterville. The Gear Meat Company Ltd. is contributing to the gift by doing the slaughtering, processing and placing the carcases f.o.b. all free of charge. Mr. Duncan, who is a former member and chairman of the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board, said last night that he had made the gift through his friend Dr. A. A. Grace, the representative of the British Ministry of Food who was recently in the Dominion. He hoped by his gift to help the British people in some small way in their present distress The bullocks had all come from his farm at_ Hunterville. Arrangements for iho distribution of the gift had been left to Dr. Grace. It is understood that gifts made to the British Ministry of Food are carried freight free. Mr. Duncan’s .gift represents a value of approximately £3500. ______
