LEADS SPITFIRE WING (British Official Wireless.) (11 a.m.) RUGBY, June 4. A Tasmanian mining engineer, Wing Commander J. R. Ratten, who has the distinction of being the first Australian to lead a Fighter Command Spitfire wing, has made about 150 offensive sweeps from Britain. He joined the Fighter Command in 1941 and has carried out over 70 sweeps while at the Fighter Command’s topscoring station.
