AUSTRALIAN CIVILIANS PRODUCTION ON DEMAND (10 a.m.) SYDNEY. June 5. 1 Australian civilians who fail to produce their identity cards on demand by the police or man-power authorities will be liable to immediate detention. The purpose of a new regulation which has been announced by the Prime Minister, Mr. J. Curtin, is to enable the apprehension of soldiers who are absent without leave and are wearing civilian clothes. No enlisted person in Australia is issued with an identity card while every civilian is obliged to have one.
