RECIPROCAL TRADE

PRESIDENT'S AUTHORITY (10 a.m.) WASHINGTON. June 3. The Senate completed legislative action on a measure extending President Roosevelt’s authority to make reciprocal trade agreements for a further two years. The Senate rejected a long series of limiting amendments.

The Associated Press points out that the renewal of the President’s authority constitutes a victory for the Secretary of State, Mr. Cordell Hull, who insisted that any alteration would be interpreted abroad as an indication that Congress did not desire to co-ooerate with the other .nations in solving post-war problems.
