Shortage of Doctors
Because of complaints of a shortage of doctors, the executive of the Canterbury Progress .'League has decided to request the Minister of Health, the Hon. A. ; H. Nordmeyer, to relieve 'Civilian doctors front'duties of examining recruits." '■ : ‘ HOmc Guard Smoko - Members of Headquarters Company dl’ the Gisborne Battalion, Home Guard, held a smoke concert in the Poverty Bay Rowing Club’s shed on Saturday night, when Captain E. W. Forrest, O.C. of the company,.presided over a good attendance, including Maior C. A. Smith, commanding officer of the battalion, and representatives of other companies. . Occasion was taken tb farewell Lieutenant J. Williams, commander of the Signals Platoon, who is to'leave for Wellington to-iriotrow. while a farewell was also extended to Lieutenant T. E. Gresham, commander of the Medical Platoon. jf
